I believe that counseling is an opportunity to be deeply listened to and supported as you process stuck and vulnerable places. While key events from your past may help to organize our work together, I believe that healing is found in your present experience of symptoms and daily functioning. In counseling my goal is to work with you to identify your goals and concerns, moving towards transformation that deepens your self-awareness, expands your hope for the future, and strengthens healthy relationship connections.
I have an eclectic orientation to counseling grounded in a Trauma Informed and Strengths Based approach. My work integrates Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I come from a Christian faith-based perspective that sees you as a whole person who is worthy of love and healing while honoring your own individual values and beliefs.
Prior to joining Salem Pastoral Counseling, I was a Rehabilitation Counselor and Counselor Educator, working with individuals experiencing disabilities to address barriers to employment and daily living for 25 years. I have also led groups through the Soul Care recovery ministry at Salem Alliance Church.
