Approach to
Counseling
I am a trained marriage, family and
individual therapist. My approach to counseling is based on the
belief that persons can become more clearly self-defined by
understanding their needs and issues, and as a result can make
responsible choices about functioning in a more healthy and
satisfying way both personally and in relationships with others.
As a pastoral counselor, I am both
trained as a marriage and family therapist as well as ordained with
ministerial standing with the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ), and the United Church of Christ. I am a
clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and
Family Therapists and subscribe to the Code of Ethics of that
organization.
As a licensee of the Oregon State
Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I will
abide by its Code of Ethics.
Education
I hold the degree of Masters of
Education in counseling from Lewis and Clark College in
Portland, Oregon. I have also studied at Brite Divinity School,
Fort Worth, Texas, and Christian University, Fort Worth,
Texas in the areas of theology and pastoral counseling.
Continuing
Education
To maintain my license, I am
required by the state to participate in annual continuing
education. I participate in classes dealing with subjects relevant
to this profession, and I participate in professional consultation
for part of this requirement. I will be happy to explain what that
entails and how it relates to you as my client.
Fee Schedule
Fees for counseling services are
$105.00 per hour of counseling. An adjustment in fees is possible in
cases of need and when discussed in advance with the counselor.
