Approach to Counseling

I believe that people are valuable and should be treated with respect to their uniqueness.  My work is a client-centered, brief therapy (generally lasting three-six months).  As a family systems therapist, I work with couples, families, and individuals.  My main areas of practice include marriage or relationship counseling and treatment with teens, adults, and older adults who have experienced trauma related to past sexual assault or power abuse.  Additional areas include depression, anxiety, codependency, past addictions, relational conflicts, and phase-of-life issues.  I employ a relational, systemic approach that incorporates psycho education, human relationship, spirituality (see next paragraph for details), and multiculturalism.

I understand that faith can be an integral part of a person’s life.  I am honored to incorporate faith-based practice into the therapeutic experience.  I am sensitive to my client’s beliefs and I do not impose my beliefs on clients.

Education and Training

I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  Coursework included multiple therapeutic approaches to client-centered couple, family, and individual counseling.  Additional experience has included 12-step training and facilitation, sexual assault therapist core training, various multicultural discussion groups, and Functional Family Therapy.

I am a member of Oregon Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (OAMFT), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), and Washington Coalition for Sexual Assault Programs (WCSAP).

Code of Ethics

As a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists working towards licensure, I abide by its Code of Ethics.  I am under the ongoing supervision of Stacy Fennell MA, LMFT, which I will be happy to explain.

Fee Schedule

Fees for counseling services are $105.00 per 50 minute session.  An adjustment in fees is possible in cases of need and when discussed in advance with the counselor.
