Approach to
Counseling
I am a
trained mental health counselor with broad experience in crisis and
short-term treatment. My emphasis is on time-limited, problem
solving counseling based on the particular goals of the person(s)
seeking help. I adhere to a cognitive approach to counseling,
influenced by looking at a person from the context of their family
system. I believe in a person’s ability to change and to live up to
their own potential. As a licensed lay minister of the Episcopal
Church, I bring a pastoral perspective to my counseling and am
open to address issues of spirituality.
I am
certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional with the
State of Oregon. I am not presently licensed as a counselor by the
Oregon State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and
Therapists, but I do abide by its Code of Ethics.
Education
I hold a
Master of Arts degree (MA) from the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas, in Clinical Psychology. My area of study was in
counseling.
Continuing
Education
I
participate regularly in classes and conferences concerned with
subjects relevant to this profession. I will be happy to explain
what that entails and how it relates to you as my client.
Fee Schedule
Fees for counseling services are
$105.00 per hour of counseling. An adjustment in fees is possible in
cases of need and when discussed in advance with the counselor.
